The Intentional Life Changers Empowerment Foundation (ILCEF) has continued its youth development efforts across Nigeria through the second season of its Unleash Your Intentional Self (UYIS) School Tour, an outreach programme aimed at encouraging secondary school students to build confidence, discover purpose, and develop a growth mindset.

The initiative, which was organised to mark International Women’s Day, has so far reached more than 18 secondary schools across five Nigerian cities. According to the organisers, the programme has engaged thousands of students through sessions focused on leadership, self-awareness and personal development.

Founder of the foundation, Tamuno Abraham, said the school tour was created to help young people recognise their potential early and make more informed decisions about their future.

She explained that the idea behind the initiative was shaped by her own experiences growing up. According to her, she was raised by a hardworking mother who made significant sacrifices to support her education, but she still struggled with questions about identity and direction as a young student.

Abraham recalled that a moment during a school event later influenced her outlook. At the time, a guest speaker told the audience that they could become whatever they aspired to be. She said the statement encouraged her to think differently about her future and inspired her commitment to mentoring young people.

Through interactive sessions, storytelling and mentorship conversations, the UYIS School Tour aims to encourage students to overcome fear, develop self-confidence and take responsibility for shaping their future.

The outreach has already been held in Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Lagos, Gombe and Kaduna, where students participated in discussions and activities focused on personal growth and leadership.

During one of the sessions, organisers said a student who had previously been hesitant to speak in public gathered the confidence to address her classmates and share her ambition of becoming a leader, drawing applause from fellow students and teachers.

Education stakeholders who have observed the programme described it as a timely initiative, noting that many young people face challenges such as peer pressure, low self-esteem and uncertainty about career paths.

While the first edition of the tour visited five schools in Port Harcourt, the second season has expanded to additional cities, reaching more students across the country.

The foundation also acknowledged the support of partner organisations including Cloud10 Tech Hub, Margcox, Matrix International Academy Gombe, Victor Ameh Foundation and Coree Group, which contributed to the programme.

ILCEF further recognised the efforts of Grace Wetkos, the national coordinator of the initiative, as well as chapter leads Kehinde Blessing, Becky Wakama, Gertrude Ibrahim, Adeyemi Olabisi, and John Oke, the media director, alongside volunteers who supported the tour in various cities.

Abraham said the long-term goal of the programme is to raise a generation of young Nigerians who are confident, self-aware and intentional about their future.

According to her, encouraging young people to reflect on their goals and potential can play an important role in shaping the communities they will lead in the future.
