The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been declared the winner of the governorship election held in Lagos state Nigeria on Saturday, March 18.
The declaration was made in the early hours of Monday, March 20, by the Returning Officer of the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in Lagos State, Professor Adenike Oladeji.
Sanwo-Olu won in 19 local governments out of the 20 local governments in the state to defeat his closest competitor, the Labour Party candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour who won in only one LG, Amuwo-Odofin in the gubernatorial race.
Sanwo-Olu polled a total of 762,134 votes, Rhodes-Vivour polled 312,329 votes, and the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Olajide Adeniran polled 62,449 votes.
