Russia Says U.S. Is Responsible For The Drone Attack On Kremlin

Russia has accused the U.S. of being the behind the drone attacks on Kremlin. In what the Kremlin called an assassination attempt against the Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

Kremlin spokesman, Dimitry Peskov on Thursday claimed that the U.S. was the mastermind behind the drone strike. Two of the drones were shot down by Russian forces early Wednesday morning.

The White House has however dismissed Russia’s claim and called it “ludicrous.”

In a tweet by an advisor to the head of the office of President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine also denied involvement in the attack.

“Ukraine wages an exclusively defensive war and does not attack targets on the territory of the Russian Federation,” he wrote

Reacting to the US “attempts to disown” the attack, the Kremlin spokesman said; “Attempts to disown this (attack on the Kremlin), both in Kyiv and in Washington, are, of course, absolutely ridiculous.”
“We know very well that decisions about such actions, about such terrorist attacks, are made not in Kyiv but in Washington.”

In another report, Russian foreign ministry said the drone attacks will not go unanswered, stating that it shows Kyiv had no desire to see an end to the 15-month war at the negotiating table.

In what seemed like a reprisal attack, Moscow’s forces fired more combat drones at Ukrainian cities including the capital, Kyiv.
