Tems wins first Grammy; Burna Boy loses category

Nigerian musician, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems has bagged her first-ever Grammy award. The singer won in the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category for her role in ‘Wait for U by Future featuring Drake.

The 27-year-old afro beats singer won her first Grammy on Sunday after four Grammy nominations.
Others in the same category included DJ Khaled Featuring Future & SZA (Beautiful); Jack Harlow (First Class); Kendrick Lamar Featuring Blxst & Amanda Reifer (Die Hard) and Latto – Big Energy (Live).

Burna Boy however lost in the two categories he was nominated in. His hopes of adding another Grammy to his shelf were dashed after he lost the Best Global Song performance for which ‘Last Last’ was nominated and Best Global Album for which ‘Love, Damini’ was nominated.
