The National Universities Commission, NUC, has directed the closure of all universities and inter-university centers ahead of the 2023 general elections. The closure is slated to be between 22nd February and 14th March 2023.
The Deputy Executive Secretary (Administration) of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Chris Maiyaki, made this known in a statement released on behalf of the commission on February 9, 2023.
According to the commission, the closure is due to concerns about the security of staff, students of the universities as well as the universities’ properties.
According to the statement, the directive came from the honorable minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu after consulting with relevant security agencies.
